The War Horse Memorial Purple Poppy Appeal 2020: the virtual concert!

The show must go on!

Although the Purple Poppy Appeal 2020 has had to be shelved due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the good news is that WHM have found another way to bring their cause right into your homes…thanks to the magic of YouTube and the generosity of our celebrity friends. On Monday, June 8 at 8pm WHM will be screening a special, virtual Purple Poppy Concert.

The compere will be TV presenter and former Strictly winner, Chris Hollins, and it will feature well-loved artists and performers, including Britain’s Got Talent favourite Colin Thackery, actress Jenny Seagrove, soprano Christina Johnston and many others. They have all given their time and talents for free, and are recording their performances under strict social distancing guidelines. You will be able to join in for free – this is a concert open to all WHM Ambassadors, supporters – and animal lovers everywhere!

However, throughout the hour-long performance at the bottom of the screen we will display ways YOU can donate to the Appeal so WHM can help their chosen charities. ALL the money raised will go to those good causes. Animal charities particularly are struggling to keep afloat during these challenging times and WHM have pledged to help them survive. After all, for centuries animals have give us service and sacrifice, love, loyalty and companionship without asking for anything in return. If ever there was a time to return the favour, this is it.

The live concert can be viewed here at 8pm on Mon, June 8th –

The War Horse Memorial is the first national memorial dedicated to the millions of UK, Commonwealth and Allied horses, mules and donkeys lost during The Great War. It pays tribute to the nobility, courage, unyielding loyalty and immeasurable contribution these animals played in giving us the freedom of democracy we all enjoy today, and signifies the last time the horse would be used on a mass scale in modern warfare.

The War Horse Memorial is located on the major Ascot roundabout opposite Heatherwood Hospital and Car Park 1 of Ascot Racecourse. Postcode: SL5 8AA.
