Machine learning is all the rage right now.
The NHS are all over it – they’ve vowed to become world leaders on the tech front in the next five years, to make 30 million outpatient appointments unnecessary and save £1bn to reinvest in frontline care.
Machine learning is also at the core of the Department for Transport plans to check out road markings by reviewing 150 million high-definition images of UK carriageways.
Both examples are a far cry from Silicon Valley giants like Facebook and Google, where algorithms and data are commonplace.
