A Habitat for Humanity volunteer was on a Global Village trip in Nepal when the quake hit. Read her touching story here.

One week on, we have started clearing away rubble and our fundraising efforts continue in order that we can make the greatest impact. Our immediate aim is to distribute 20,000 emergency shelter kits and begin to marshal engineers and engineering students to help carry out house-by-house damage assessments, as many families fear staying in their homes. With the scale of response required, we need your support.

As we continue to assess the impact of the earthquake, we know there will be significant need to help families rebuild their homes and their lives in the days and months ahead,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “We’re grateful to our supporters and partners who can join us in our efforts to assist our friends in Nepal. The more funds we raise, the more families we can help.”
