How the War Horse Memorial and a star-studded line-up are raising funds for Mane Chance Sanctuary.
Sunday, August 23 is now designated the first annual National Animal Day, honouring the service of animals in war and providing a lasting legacy for animals in need. The War Horse Memorial are launching in style with a spectacular variety concert – courtesy of celebrities and stars who will entertain viewers from the comfort of their own homes via Youtube. The stellar line-up includes Marti Pellow, Britian’s Got Talent winner Colin Thackery, Pete Howarth, Max Fulham, Jon Courtenay and wonderful compere Hilary O’Neil – and there’s more to come! Mane Chance Sanctuary will be the benefitting charity, and all proceeds will be used to support the wonderful work the team and volunteers do to to rescue and rehabilitate abused, abandoned and old horses, integrating them with the local community.
Acclaimed actress Jenny Seagrove has a career that spans theatre, film and television. What you might not know is that she is also the founding Trustee of Mane Chance Sanctuary. The charity has a passion, a dream, that through the work they do with their horses for people in need, they will be able to “prove the value of the horse as a healer”. The horses are all rescued animals who have suffered situations of abuse, neglect or abandonment and they clearly understand how difficult and complicated life can be. Jenny explains that now feeling safe, loved and cared for at the Sanctuary, these wonderful animals give themselves so generously to her visitors who need a little support too… as she puts it, “helping us to help them.”
The virtual concert takes place live on Youtube on Sunday, August 23rd at 8pm.
